TCHRD has obtained pictures of 11 Tibetans who died when Chinese armed forces shot live ammunition indiscriminately into a protesting crowd near Tongkhor Monastery in Kardze County on 3 April 2008. The protest broke out when monks of Tongkor Monastery (Ch: Donggu) in Sothok-Da Township, Kardze County, Kardze "Tibet Autonomous Prefecture" ("TAP"), Sichuan Province, called for the release of two monks arrested for objecting to the Chinese 'Patriotic Education' campaign in the monastery. At least 14 are known to have been shot dead on that day, as against eight previously reported. The bodies of the dead have not been returned to the families till date.
